FAQ - Cross Border Bill Payment

1. What is Cross Border Funds Transfer service?
  This is an online service for you to transfer funds to accounts maintained with Maybank in Malaysia via Maybank2u.com.sg. So you can now transfer funds from your Maybank accounts in Singapore to third party Maybank payee accounts in Malaysia.
   
2. How can I start using the Cross Border Funds Transfer service?
  You need to have a savings or current account with Maybank and apply for our Maybank2u.com.sg.
   
3. Do I need to apply for the Cross Border Funds Transfer service?
  No. You can use this service without prior application. However, in using this service, you are agreeing to be bound by the Terms and Conditions governing the Cross Border Bill Payment and Funds Transfer Service.
   
4. Can I transfer funds anytime I choose?
  No. The Cross Border Funds Transfer service is available from 7 am to 11 pm daily, including Sundays and Public Holidays.
   
5. Are the funds transfers effected immediately?
  Funds transferred before 4 pm (Singapore Time) on Mondays to Fridays and 12 pm (Singapore Time) on Saturdays will be credited to the respective Maybank payee accounts on the same day, unless the transaction falls on a Malaysian Public Holiday.

Funds transferred after 4 pm (Singapore Time) on Mondays to Fridays and 12 pm (Singapore Time) on Saturdays will be treated as the next working day's transaction. The respective Maybank payee accounts will be credited by the next working day, unless the transaction falls on a Malaysian Public Holiday.
   
6. Can I schedule my funds transfers in advance?
  No. You cannot schedule funds transfers to Maybank payee accounts in Malaysia in advance.
   
7. When will my account be debited?
  Your account is debited immediately after you click the Confirm button.
   
8. What is "Update Payee Account List"?
  When you transfer funds through our Cross Border Funds Transfer service, you need to key in the details of the payee account such as the payee name and the account number.

Update Payee Account List allows you to register/delete up to 10 of your favourite Maybank payee accounts in Malaysia that you will be regularly transferring funds into. So you no longer have to key in the account information each time you make a funds transfer.
   
9. What is the maximum amount for Cross Border Funds Transfers per day?
  The maximum amount is S$3,000 per day per customer.
   
10. What is the foreign exchange rate used for my funds transfers?
  Funds will be transferred in Singapore Dollars to Maybank in Malaysia and credited into the respective payee accounts in Ringgit, using the prevailing foreign exchange rate on the day your account is debited.
   
11. Can I transfer funds from my Maybank account in Malaysia instead?
  No. You can only transfer funds from your Maybank accounts in Singapore.
   
12. Will I be charged for using the Cross Border Funds Transfer service?
  Yes. A service fee of S$15 will be levied for using this service.
   
13. How do I know if my funds transfers have been successful?
  You can check the status of your funds transfers that were made in the past 30 days via Funds Transfer Transaction History. Depending on its current status, one of the following will be reflected beside each transaction:
 
  • Pending - Transaction is pending confirmation from Maybank Branches in Malaysia
  • Successful - Funds transfer has been successfully credited to the payee account with Maybank in Malaysia
  • Unsuccessful - Funds transfer has been rejected. Please verify the details of the payee account and perform the transaction again.
14. What happens when my funds transfers are unsuccessful?
  For unsuccessful transactions, the transaction amount will be refunded to your account within the day. If the transaction is not successful, the S$15 service fee is still applicable.
   
15. What happens if I transferred funds to the wrong payee account?
  We request customers to exercise prudence in conducting Funds transfer as it would be difficult to retrieve funds once the transaction is confirmed. The bank can only assist and would not be able to influence the outcome on funds wrongly transferred by customer to another account.
